1. CHOOSE YOUR FINANCE
Understanding and choosing the correct finance package is essential to recieve the maximum benefits. In summary we have listed the different packages that can be tailored to meet your needs.
2. PCP - PERSONAL CONTRACT PURCHASE
The Personal Contract Purchase agreement is otherwise known as PCP which is structured as follows:
- Initial payment
- Balance to finance
- Payment terms (24, 36, 48 months)
- Balloon/ final payment
- Annual Percentage Rate (APR)
Typically a PCP agreement mean's you place an achievable initial payment towards the agreement, fund the remaining balance with a balloon payment at the end of the term.
This will allow you to keep monthly payments affordable and when the term ends you can either choose to sell the car or re-finance the balloon and keep the vehicle or hand the vehicle back depending on the terms initial agreed.
3. HP - HIRE PURCHASE
Hire Purchase is slightly different to Personal Contract Purchase (PCP), with Hire Purchase there is no balloon payment, so the cost of the vehicle including interest is divided equally between 24 and 60 months depending on your circumstances.
This is typically laid out as follows:
- Initial payment - providing a larger initial payment will help reduce monthly costs and amount of interest incurred.
- Balance to finance (24, 36, 48, 60 months)
- No balloon / final payment
- Annual Percentage Rate (APR)
Entering a Hire Purchase agreement mean's although you pay a higher monthly payment if you run the course of the agreement you will own the vehicle at the end of the contract.
You can opt for a Hire Purchase with balloon agreement also referred to as a Lease Purchase agreement,. Typically this means you will be obligated to pay the final payment as handing the vehicle back is not generally an option.
4. BCH - BUSINESS CONTRACT HIRE
Business Contract Hire (BCH) agreements are specifically for businesses (typically VAT registered) in order to claim a portion of the VAT back in your returns.
Most manufacturers will offer Business Contract Hire (BCH) agreements allowing exceptionally affordable monthly payments with minimal initial payments.
There are various ways to setup a contract hire agreement but this will invariably be x amount of months up-front and x amount of recurring monthly payments until final date:
Example terms: 3+35, 6+23, 1+48
Miles per annum: 5000 - 40000
No balloon/final payment
Contractually, you will never own the vehicle and the funder will arrange for collection of the vehicle towards the end of the agreement. All vehicles under contract hire agreements are subject to the BVRLA vehicle stands and you are advised to check the guidance and advice 10-12 weeks before handing the vehicle back.
5. PCH - PERSONAL CONTRACT HIRE
Similar to Business Contract Hire (BCH) agreements, PCH (Personal Contract Hire include the VAT element within the initial payment and recurring monthly rental.
Most manufacturers will offer Personal Contract Hire (PCH) agreements allowing exceptionally affordable monthly payments with minimal initial payments.
There are various ways to setup a contract hire agreement but this will invariably be x amount of months up-front and x amount of recurring monthly payments until final date:
Example terms: 1+35, 3+23, 9+48
Miles per annum: 5000 - 40000
No balloon/final payment
