An Electric Vehicle (EV) is powered solely by battery cells located in the vehicle. This means the EV produces zero exhaust emmissions.
Does an electric vehicle require petrol or diesel?
No. Electric Vehicles are purely electric and require electricity supplied from the battery to charge before use.
What is a Hybrid Vehicle?
A Hybrid Vehicle is a mixture of electrical and mechanical components. Hybrid vehicles primarily survive from petrol initially whilst utilising a EV facility. Energy is normally restored through a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) under braking or coasting.
Does a hybrid vehicle require petrol or diesel?
Yes, for the engine to run a combustion agent is required or the vehicle will not start. Please refer to your manual or vehicle to confirm whether it is diesel or petrol required.
Which manufacturers can I buy?
With current targets to reduce the amount of diesel vehicles on the road, most if not all manufacturers have heavily invested in new Electric or Hybrid technology. For futher information on specific manufacturers, please contact one of our experienced consultants.
How far can I drive on a single charge?
Since their first introduction, electric cars have been constantly improving range from a single charge. There isn’t a simple answer to this however, the maximum current production vehicle records a 335 mile electric only range which is improving all the time.
Can I charge my vehicle at home?
In short yes, an electric charging station will need to be installed at your property in order to charge the vehicle. Please note, if you have no off road parking, rules and excemptions may apply. Please check with your local authority or highways agency before purchasing a vehicle.
Will I need to MOT my Electric Vehicle or Hybrid Vehicle
Yes. All vehicles require an MOT to cover items such as tyres, lights, seat belts and brakes. Legally you are required to MOT the vehicle after the third year the vehicles life.
If I don't have off road parking, how am I going to charge my vehicle?
Rules and regulations may apply due to location or circumstance, we recommend speaking to your local authority or highways agency for in-depth advice.

What is the cost of a replacement Electric Vehicle battery?
One of the most popular questions about Electric Vehicles is battery replacement costs. To shed some light using Nissan and more specially the Leaf model, refabricated battery replacements are estimated at a cost of £2,500.00 to new batterys in the region of £5,000.00. However, Nissan do provide an 8-year warranty as long as the vehicle is serviced and receives a health-check at the same time. How much Road Fund Licence (RFL) will I need to pay?
If I run out of charge with my electric car what should I do?
We recommend contacting your break down specialist or manufacturer to arrange collection and returning to your nearest charging station. This only applies to electric vehicles.
How long is the warranty on a Electric Vehicle?
Please refer to your hand book provided with the vehicle as each manufacturer is different, this will be outlined there. If you require any further assistance please contact one of our experienced consultants.
Are there any driving restrictions or requirements when buying an Electric or Hybrid vehicle?
To the best of our knowledge all electric and hybrid vehicles are automatic vehicles. No other requirements will need to be met as long as you possess a legal driving licence.
If I have a problem with my electric vehicle, do I call the electrician or the mechanic?
Believe it or not we do get asked this question quite frequently. We advise that you contact your vehicles manufacturer and failing this your local mechanic. It is always advised to seek manufacturers advice and when resolving faults that official manufacturered parts are used through the process to avoid any warranty problems.
