Having recently taken in a McLaren 570s Spider, we were presented with the simple question of, roof up or roof down? Except it wasn’t such a simple question to answer.

The battle between Coupes and Convertibles rages on, Coupes are designed as a complete chassis without any additional re-enforcement. The headlinner connecting the base of the car to top creating security, comfort and with less rigidty. In some cases it is proven that it reduces the risk of hair loss and less wind, if you catch my drift.

Convertibles on the other hand are quite brilliant too, there is nothing like reclining the roof and driving on a beautiful day, a sound system of your preference, enjoying the wind pass through your locks (if you have any) and watching life pass you by. But then we thought, why couldn’t you do both?

In steps the obvious contender, the keeping as close to the coupe form without the limitation these cars and the McLaren 570s Convertible in particular take the market by storm leaving the likes of the Audi R8 Spyder and Lamborghini Spyder in its shadow.
